    പേരും പെരുമയുമുള്ള തറവാട് “മഷിത്തണ്ട്”. ഇന്നന്യം നിന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ആളും ആരവവുമില്ല. പരാതികളും പരിഭവങ്ങളുമില്ല. പോരും പോര്‍വിളികളുമില്ല. കഥകളില്ല കളിചിരികളില്ല. ക്ലാവുപിടിച്ച ഓര്‍മ്മകളുമായി തറവാടിന്റെ ഉത്തരങ്ങളിലും കഴുക്കോലുകളിലും തൂങ്ങിയാടുന്ന നനച്ചീറുകള്‍ മാത്രം.മുറ്റത്തെ തുളസിത്തറയില്‍ തിരി തെളിഞ്ഞിട്ട് നാളേറെയായി. പൊളിഞ്ഞുവീഴാറായ പടിപ്പുരമാളിക ഇന്നോ നാളയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു…..പടിപ്പുരയ്ക്ക് പുറത്തുനിന്നു ഞാനുറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു ഇവിടാരുമില്ലേ…..??
